The best-selling books turned films 'Fifty Shades of Grey' and 'Fifty Shades Darker' have added insult to injury through it's depictions of non-consensual BDSM practises and abusive sub-dom relationships.

However, it's not necessarily at the fault of the writer, the producers or even the marketing team; the new wave of misconceptions and stereotyping, are in large, due to the mainstream media outlets that are capitalising on their cinema release as the 'go-to-guide' for kinky encounters. 

So what does mean it to those who actually engage in BDSM-orientated sexual activities? Well, web-savvy performer Harriet Sugarcookie speaks to several exhibitors, fetishists and kink performers at the AE Expo in Las Vegas to find out. 

It seems we can hardly get away from the 50 Shades of Grey phenomenon. Everyone has read the books or seen the movies. That's right, kink is now mainstream. But what is the fetish community like in the real world?
