Kinky Kittens: Online Community Spotlight

Putting the 'me-ow' back into sex talk! This week's spotlight shines on a rather cute 'sex work positive' platform run by our friends Mr & Mrs Kitten.

Kinky Kittens

The Kinky Kittens' 'KinkyTube' enables visitors to view photo galleries, purchase individual clips and subscribe to sites such as The Life Erotic, Sex Art and Viv Thomas; all offering beautiful, sensual porn. The site also displays articles on matters that are close to the kittens' heart. In a nutshell, it's a platform that supports sexual freedom, sensuality, love and unity.

We caught up with Mrs Kitten herself to divulge a little more about her website.

"We want to have meaningful interactions with people; we’re curious about what others have to say and what turns them on. We wish to entertain you and show you new things. Our main goal is to spread sex-positivity and express ourselves. We’d like to see a change in people’s attitude toward sex, porn and sex work. It seems like everyone is watching porn but nobody’s ready to talk about it, especially if it’s kinky. Since we started, we’ve talked a lot with sex workers, cam girls and activists via social media - they had great influence on us and our project. We want more interactions with likeminded people."

Which is precisely why we were keen to feature Kitten Kittens for IGNITE. They share a similar passion for open discussion, embracing individuality and sex-positivity. Companies such as ourselves (Burn the Night) and other innovative brands like Lazeeva are all too aware of this dogmatic separation between sexual liberation, compassion, respect, understanding and unity. With everyone doing their bit to spread their own individualised message and providing different services in relation to this, we can begin to move forward in the right direction and create a more balanced and positive environment for all.

Sex Work On and Offline

At a time where the powers that be are trying to delegitimise and stigmatise sex work, it's imperative that communities like Kitten Kittens exist. After many rallies across the globe and numerous legislative barriers that are making sex work less safe, providing information and support will aid sex workers in the fight for their workplace safety and online security.

"Our community is for everyone who enjoys sex-positive message and our flavour. We’ll show you boobs but also provide information on online privacy and security. If you’re a cam performer or sex worker and need help with IT solutions – we’re here for you."

Also when it comes to the booming webcam modelling industry, it's just as important that cam models have access to tools that will ensure their safety both on and offline, particularly as now it's becoming easier to find out all sorts of information on an individual such as private social media accounts, email addresses, telephone numbers and even home addresses. By providing essential advice and support, webcam models can take appropriate steps to ensure that this information isn't accessible where it shouldn't be.

The Beginning

So how did Kinky Kittens come to be? We'll let Mrs Kitten elaborate on their project:

"We created Kinky Kittens because of censorship. We liked sharing erotica and porn in our private Facebook messages and in a closed group. Unfortunately, our links were being censored, some of us even got 24 hr bans. We hated it. It felt incredibly patronising: adults couldn’t share something legal in a private conversation because Facebook algorithm noticed a nipple… We had a simple solution: you create a platform – you make the rules. It was a no brainer since we work in IT & design."

With the censorship crusade reaching new heights, more and more people are taking it upon themselves to utilise more 'accommodating' platforms or creating brand new ones altogether. As we reported a week ago via Refinery29, there is a huge community of porn enthusiasts and homemade erotica fans on Reddit, which allows people to share adult content provided it's labelled NSFW. The fact is, people want access to diverse adult content so it's up to the people themselves and broad minded companies to give it to them.

The Team

"It’s a passion project of a small group of friends. Everything on social media is done by Mr. & Mrs. Kitten, the founders of Kinky Kittens. The rest of the team helps with the articles and ideas. We’re having a lot of fun with this project; there’s nothing like watching tentacle porn with your friends while having breakfast. It’s all for science and research, of course."
"We are not a homogenous group: there’s a married couple, a soon-to-be-married couple and various “types of” singles. We have different tastes and kinks but we all share the same openness and need for joy and honesty in our sex lives.  We’ve often talked about our relationships and sex which really strengthened the bond between us - we want to spread this attitude."

The Future

Things are looking bright for the online community, but what are the founders' plans for Kinky Kittens?

"Kinky Kittens is constantly evolving - it was supposed to be a porn site but now it’s going into a different direction. It’s a very personal page. We are self-sufficient and independent, we don’t need the project to make money, which gives us total creative freedom. You can expect anything, really. If we like it and it’s connected with sex, erotica or pleasure – we’ll share it. We do not care about trends or labels, honesty and integrity are our priority. We care about other people and enjoy interacting with them. To put it simply: we are a group of sex positive people who will not accept limitations that others put on us. Kinky Kittens are nerdy, kinky and cute. We’re all different here and it’s perfectly fine with us.
Since it’s a private project and our professional and private lives where rather busy – there’s many things that were put on hold. A lot of articles and ideas are on the to-do-list."
"We’ve been talking about finding a way to help others: a sort of a charity / raising awareness project. The situation of women, especially sex workers in certain countries makes us pretty angry… It’s still too soon to say anything and, frankly, we’re hesitant when it comes to branding it. Sex positivity mixed with porn and tits doesn’t go too well with such matters… more to follow in due course."

No doubt the team will find a way to provide a means to help with sex worker advocacy and support whilst still engaging in their kinky interests. We look forward to seeing the developments.
